200HR TEACHER TRAINING

WINTER 2027 | New Orleans
Bloom Yoga’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is a foundational training for those ready to deepen their relationship with yoga, understand the practice beyond the poses, and learn how to confidently and authentically guide others.
Whether you know you want to teach or simply feel called to immerse yourself more deeply in yoga, this training is an opportunity to study the practice from the inside out.
Our approach brings together the tradition and philosophy of yoga with modern movement science, functional anatomy, nervous system education, and the practical skills required to lead meaningful, intelligent classes.
This isn't about memorizing a script or learning one "right" way to teach.
It's about learning to see, understand, adapt, communicate, and lead.

WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
Asana + The Practice of Yoga
Develop a deeper understanding of the physical practice while learning how to make movement purposeful, adaptable, and accessible.
We’ll explore:
-
Foundational yoga postures and pose families
-
Alignment through a functional rather than one-size-fits-all lens
-
Modifications, variations, props, and contraindications
-
How individual anatomy influences movement
-
Building balanced and intentional asana practices
-
Pranayama and breath practices
-
Meditation
-
Mantra, mudra, and traditional yogic practices
-
The subtle body, including chakras.
Functional Anatomy + Movement Science
You don't need to become an anatomist to teach yoga—but you should understand the bodies you're asking people to move. Our anatomy curriculum moves beyond memorizing muscles and bones to explore how anatomy actually applies to teaching.
You'll study:
-
Major bones, muscles, joints, and movement patterns
-
Joint function and stabilization
-
Biomechanics
-
Mobility, flexibility, strength, and stability
-
The respiratory system and the mechanics of breathing
-
The relationship between the nervous system, movement, and yoga
-
Fascia and its role in movement and embodied experience
-
Common contraindications and physical limitations
-
How to adapt practices for different bodies
The Art of Teaching
Knowing yoga and teaching yoga are two different skills. You'll learn how to translate what you know into an experience your students can actually understand and embody.
We’ll explore:
-
Intelligent and creative sequencing
-
Verbal, visual, and physical cueing
-
Finding your authentic teaching voice
-
Effective use of language
-
Pacing and timing
-
Holding space and managing a room
-
Creating safe, welcoming, and accessible classes
-
Teaching different bodies, abilities, and experience levels
-
Building confidence without becoming performative
-
Giving and receiving meaningful feedback
-
You'll teach throughout the training—not just at the end—so that teaching begins to feel natural through repetition, mentorship, observation, and feedback.
Yoga Philosophy + History
Yoga is far more than a physical practice. We'll explore where these teachings come from, how they have evolved, and what it means to practice and teach yoga within their larger historical and philosophical context.
Studies will include:
-
The history and evolution of yoga
-
The meaning and definitions of yoga
-
The Eight Limbs of Yoga
-
The yamas and niyamas
-
Introduction to foundational yogic texts and traditions
-
Concepts including karma, dharma, ahimsa, and self-study
-
Applying philosophy to modern life
-
The relationship between philosophy, personal practice, and teaching
-
Cultural context, equity, accessibility, and responsibility within modern yoga
Our intention is not simply to study philosophy intellectually, but to ask: How do we actually live these teachings?
Ethics + The Profession of Teaching Yoga
Becoming a teacher also means understanding the responsibility that comes with the role.
We'll cover:
-
Teacher-student relationships and boundaries
-
Consent and ethical touch
-
Scope of practice
-
Creating inclusive and equitable yoga spaces
-
Professionalism and reliability
-
The basics of working as a yoga teacher
-
Yoga Alliance registration and professional pathways
Practice Teaching + Mentorship
You cannot learn to teach yoga only by talking about teaching it. Throughout the program, you'll have opportunities to practice teaching, observe other teachers, receive individualized feedback, and refine your skills in a supportive environment. By graduation, our goal is for you to have more than a certificate.
We want you to have actually taught. To know how to walk into a room, create an intentional experience, respond to the students in front of you, and trust yourself enough to lead.
More Than Teacher Training
You don't have to be certain that you want to teach. Many people enter a 200-hour training because they're curious about yoga beyond the physical practice, want to understand their own body more deeply, or feel ready for a period of personal study and growth. Teaching is one possible outcome. A deeper relationship with your own practice is another. Our training is designed to give you both.
