What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?
As a yoga student I have learned so much about myself- mind, body, & spirit- and have gained tools on my mat to help me off of my mat. I wanted to bring those same opportunities to my community as a yoga teacher!

What do you hope students take away from your class?
I hope students step onto their mat ready to uncover their capabilities & strength and leave feeling a little more rooted and connected to themselves :)

What’s your favorite way to start the day?

What’s your favorite way to move outside of yoga?
I love to run, and love how my body feels when I pair yoga and running!
What’s one thing you wish more people knew about yoga?
I wish more people knew that yoga is supposed to look and feel different for everyone! It's a personal practice, even when you're in mat-to-mat in a class. If everyone could embrace the individual ways they move, more people would love and benefit from practicing yoga.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Music!! I can't go half a day without it.

What do you hope students take away from your class?
I want students to leave feeling like they know themselves a little bit more and that they are proud of the person they are becoming. Maybe they learned something new or grounded deeper into their current way of knowing. Whatever it is, I want them to confidently acknowledge the effort they are putting in to go inward and strengthen their mind-body connection. They are exactly where they need to be.

What inspired me to become a yoga instructor?
Yoga has been a constant in my life since I was a teenager. There's nothing more I love than moving my body and seeing where it takes me on and off the mat. I decided to dive into teacher training during a challenging time and I am so grateful that I did. Giving back to this practice is what inspires me because yoga has changed my life in ways I couldn't see possible.

What do you hope your students take away from your class?
I hope each and every student leaves my class knowing their worth and being proud of who they are.

What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?
Well clearly my passion for the practice was a motivating factor, along with family and peers always saying “you should teach.” However one of the main factors is I wanted to learn how to sequence on my own and dive deeper into my self practice

What do you hope students take away from your class?
I really hope if it’s your first practice, you drink the koolaid and come back… no I’m teasing. I’ll say this one quote I got from one of my instructors, I hope that my students come for the vanity, and leave with some sanity. Basically I hope they really feel that mind body connection and realize I’m just a guide during their practice.

What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?
Before I was a yoga instructor I was a physical therapist assistant. The body and the way it moves and heals always fascinated me. I found yoga at a time in my life when my body needed healing. After only a few months I felt stronger mentally and physically. I instantly loved yoga and I loved how I felt during and afterwards. I wanted to learn more. The more I learned about yoga the more I realized I was meant to teach it. And in my 40’s I decided for a career change and haven’t looked back!
What’s one thing you wish more people knew about yoga?
Say it with me “YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE TO DO YOGA!”

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about yoga?
There’s way more to it than “just stretching”. It’s good for you physically, mentally & can be spiritual as well too.
What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?
Well, I truly went through YTT for my own personal practice without the intention of becoming a teacher but then one day shortly after graduation I stayed for restorative class and had this “ah ha” moment and desire to share this type of yoga with the world. I come from working in the events world and it’s been amazing learning how to just let your body be, to rest and to relax. I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful it feels but if you come to a class I can show you!
What’s your favorite way to recharge outside of yoga?
Music - it heals me & fuels my soul.
What is one of your favorite quotes or sayings?

What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?
The deep need to reclaim space, both within my body and within the world. As Black women, we carry generations of resilience, but also the weight of trauma, silence, and invisibility. Yoga became a sacred path to liberation. It taught me to breathe through pain, to listen to the quiet wisdom of my body, and to anchor myself in the present when the world tries to unground me.
I didn’t see many people who looked like me in the yoga spaces I entered and that only strengthened my calling. I knew that if I could hold space for others like me to feel seen, safe, and sovereign in their own skin, then this path was and is bigger than me. It's about healing, yes! But also, representation, resistance, and radical self-love.
Yoga, for me, is not just a practice, it’s a homecoming. I am a living testimony of the beauty of my yoga community. So much unmatched love, care, and empowerment. Becoming an instructor is my way of extending that welcome mat to others who need it most.

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about yoga?
Yoga is how we do life. It is a place within of self-discovery, enlightenment, empowerment, self-love, and where we take accountability for ourselves. "How we show up on our mat is how we show up in life." Hitting our mats it's only 1 step in the beautiful process of self-growth.
What is one of your favorite quotes or sayings?
Fall down 8 times, get up 9 times.

What do you hope students take away from your class?
To be their authentic selves both on and off the mat. Meaning ... to accept the challenges for what they are (an opportunity for growth!), to find joy in both the journey and the discovery, to practice being with intention and purpose, and to connect to the deeper meaning of practicing yoga above and beyond the physical. To accept all these things allows people to be their true selves AND we get to benefit by experiencing the real you.
What’s your favorite way to move outside of yoga?
Tennis! Just like yoga, tennis is a physical, spiritual, and mental outlet for me. It helps me decompress in all the ways plus I've created a strong community of people who have become important in my life.
What’s your favorite way to start the day?
My favorite way to start the day is with movement. Before having my first cup of coffee, I am finding movement either through my own yoga practice, the gym, or tennis. Movement helps me to find peace with things I might still be carrying from the day before or things I might be stressing about within the current day or week.

What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?
My path to teaching began with getting lost—literally. I was trying to find my very first yoga class and ended up at the wrong studio, feeling completely out of place. But instead of being turned away, I was welcomed with open arms and encouraged to take up space, even though everything in my conditioning told me to make myself smaller. That experience introduced me to Pratipaksha Bhavana, the yogic principle of transforming negative energy by cultivating its opposite. I realized yoga wasn't just about the physical poses—it was about fundamentally shifting how we see ourselves and our place in the world. That transformative moment, along with countless others that followed, inspired me to create that same welcoming space for others.

What's your favorite way to recharge outside of yoga?
I find myself drawn to building community with others—there's something deeply nourishing about genuine connection and shared experiences. But I also need time for what I call "drifting off into self soliloquy"—those quiet moments of internal reflection where I can process and integrate everything that's happening in my life. It's that balance between connecting outward and turning inward that truly restores me.
What's your go-to pump-up song?"Beautiful Day (Thank You for Sunshine)" by Trinix, Rushawn, and Jermaine Edwards. It perfectly captures that energy of gratitude and celebration that I try to bring to everything I do, including my teaching.
What is one of your favorite quotes or sayings?
"The way a tree grows is determined by its roots." This speaks to me on so many levels—it reminds me that our foundation, our practice, our daily intentions, these are what determine how we grow and what we become. As in yoga, it's not about the branches you can see above ground, but the deep, steady work of cultivating strong roots that really matters.

What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?
Yoga has been a steady presence in my life for the past decade. It’s been a safe space for me, helping me navigate anxiety, conquer fears, connect more deeply with my body, and better understand who I am. Through yoga, I’ve found community and the courage to step outside my comfort zone time and again. I became a teacher not only to deepen my own practice, but also to share this transformative practice and its benefits with others.

What do you hope students take away from your class?
That they are safe, accepted, and seen exactly as they are. I also hope students walk away with peace, confidence, and courage.
What’s your favorite way to recharge outside of yoga?Travel, reading, exploring local parks/gardens
What’s your favorite way to start the day?
Coffee, an episode of NYT's The Daily podcast, and some kind of physical activity!

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about yoga?
That it offers something for everyone. It's a practice of presence and self-inquiry rather than performance.
